Platform media requirements

Every network validates images and video against its own rules. Julexis checks your files as you upload them, so most problems surface while you are still editing — not at publish time. This page is the full reference.

What you can upload

Across the eight networks, JPEG and PNG images and MP4 video are accepted everywhere. GIF, WebP and the more specialised formats are supported per platform — the detail below says which.

  • A single post can target several channels at once.
  • The strictest channel in your selection sets the effective limit for the whole post.
  • Two networks never accept a post without media: Instagram and Pinterest. TikTok needs either a video or an image slideshow.

Good to know

If a file doesn't meet a platform's requirements, Julexis shows a validation error with a red indicator instead of failing at publish time. You can fix the file, remove the incompatible platform, or let Julexis auto-crop and resize where that's possible. See Media and files.

Per-platform limits

Platform Max image Video length Max video Text-only
Instagram 8 MB up to 15 min 300 MB no
Facebook 8 MB up to 240 min 4 GB yes
LinkedIn 8 MB 3 s – 10 min 5 GB yes
X (Twitter) 5 MB 0.5 – 140 s 512 MB yes
TikTok 20 MB up to 10 min 4 GB no
Threads 8 MB up to 5 min 1 GB yes
Pinterest 20 MB 4 s – 15 min 1 GB no
Bluesky 1 MB 1 – 60 s 100 MB yes

Bluesky's 1 MB image ceiling is the tightest in the set — if it is in your selection, it decides the image size for the whole post.

Getting media accepted first time

  • For Instagram, use a 4:5 aspect ratio for the best grid display.
  • Always compress images to reduce file size while keeping quality.
  • Test your content on different devices before publishing.
  • Keep backup copies of your original media files.
  • For the best results, consider creating platform-specific versions of the same asset.

Watch out

A file that passes validation in Julexis can still be refused by the network at publish time — the platforms apply their own checks on receipt. When that happens the post lands in Failed with the network's own error message attached, so you can fix the file and retry. See Common issues.

Tip

Upload the largest version you have. Downscaling one big file to each network's profile always beats upscaling a small one, and Julexis keeps your original untouched in the library.
